Henna & Jagua After Care

Henna Aftercare - Brown/Red Color
100% Natural Organic Henna Powder

Please read the FAQ's for additional information on Henna

  • Leave the henna paste on for 4-6 hours, overnight is best. Paste will dry in the first hour and start to crack off. This is normal. Using the breathable tape provided in the Aftercare Kit, helps keep it on for extended amounts of time. These kits can be purchased at the time of your appointment or the Mehndi Madness on-line store. We also spray the design with a lemon/sugar solution which helps with staining.
  • Don’t get the design wet for 12 hours. Water on the design within the first 12 hours will stop the activation/staining process. The design will be a light orange color at first but will darken to a brown red color over the next 2 days.
  • Shower normally but avoid harsh soaps and scrubbing. Anything that exfoliates the skin removes the design. Swimming pools and hot tubs will shorten the life of your design due to chemicals in the water.
  • Henna stains dead layers of skin and lasts several weeks. 1-2 weeks of good color and 1-2 weeks of faded color. How dark it gets and how long it lasts depends on your body, life style, where you put it and how you take care of it. Henna stains the hands, feet, ankles and wrists the darkest. The thinner the skin, the lighter the stain will be, such as the torso.
  • Henna is not recommended for people who have a G6PD deficiency. Consult your Doctor if you have or think you might have a G6PD deficiency.
  • MehndiMadnessAfterCare02112021_s.jpgHenna has been done for hundreds of years on pregnant and nursing moms and seems to pose no issues. Mehndi Madness follows the industry standard of using only lavender oil for pregnant and nursing mom. Please inform us at the time you book your appointment so we can prepare this special mixture for you. Having a conversation with your doctor is always recommended.

Jagua Aftercare - Black/Blue Color
100% Natural Organic Jagua Powder

Please read the FAQ for additional information on Jagua.

  • The Jagua paste will dry in the first hour. You may notice parts of the paste lifting and no stain appears where the design should be. This is normal.
  • Leave the Jagua paste on, free of clothing for 2-3 hours. Then peel off. DO NOT wash off. Doing so will typically create a smear over the area once the design develops. After peeling off, pat the area with a wet paper towel to remove any residue which is invisible to the eye. The design will be invisible at first but will darken over the next 2 days to a black/blue/grey color.
  • Shower normally but avoid harsh soaps and scrubbing. Anything that exfoliates the skin removes the design. Swimming pools and hot tubs will shorten the life of your design due to chemicals in the water.
  • Jagua stains dead layers of skin and lasts several weeks. 1-2 weeks of good color and 1-2 weeks of faded color. How dark it gets and how long it lasts depends on your body, life style, where you put it and how you take care of it. Jagua stains the hands, feet, ankles and wrists the darkest. The thinner the skin, the lighter the stain will be, such as the torso.
  • Jagua stains dark skin very well and often looks like a permanent tattoo. However, it is a very unforgiving material. If smeared before it can dry, there is little that can be done to fix it. If it gets on your cloths or other material, they will likely be stained as well.
  • Jagua is not recommended for people who have Eczema or Psoriasis because it’s a fruit juice. Please consult your Dr. before getting Jagua if you have either of these conditions.
  • Jagua is NOT BLACK HENNA. Nor is it made from the harmful PPD chemicals you find in Black henna. It’s a 100% natural fruit product.
