Henna is a Festival Tradition

HennaFestivals12012018A_s.jpgHennaFestivals12012018B_s.jpgHenna has become a festival tradition. It’s meant for celebrations and being with family and friends so naturally it became a tradition for people to get a it when together at the festivals. It’s a nice experience looking through books, helping one another find designs, and sharing in the fabulous artwork and culture that henna brings.

Throughout the years most kids have grown up going to festivals with friends and family, going on rides, eating elephant ears, and of course getting a henna! It’s fun to think about the transition in the types of designs you get through the years. When I was little I loved to get the ohm symbol, then when I got older I got dragons and nerdy symbols like the Deathly Hallows from Harry Potter. And of course as soon as I became a teenager I would only want to get the “pretty ones” and that meant big traditional hand designs that my mother would do for me. I’ve grown up with henna in my family and its really fun to see the wide variety of design done at festivals! You can often fine traditional as well as tattoo style work so there’s always something to please everyone.
