Everyone is looking for the new summer trends, and freckles are all the rage! I dont think it’s even a question if freckles are cute because we all know the answer is...YES!
But, there is one question for those of us who lack these natural sunkissed spots,
HOW DO WE GET THEM?!
Well, the most common materials used to replicate this adorable new trend is with makeup or henna. Makeup however is a more temporary look only lasting a day if that. Using henna to apply the freckles, you have a constant and easy cute look that lasts a few days to a week.
If you’ve never used henna before, don’t be scared! We have a few tips on how to apply the henna and how to select an appealing freckle pattern.
Applying the henna:
❖ Mehndi Madness uses all-natural henna applied with a plastic sealed cone made by us. This is what was used to apply the freckles in the photos, and a great tool to use for beginners.
❖ If you have a little more experience with henna, you can try using a hair dying brush. By putting the henna on the bristles and flicking then onto the areas you want covered you can create a random but natural pattern. However, be careful not get henna in the eyes or areas of the face you don’t want freckles!
Creating a pattern:
❖ For the freckles shown in the picture, the artist looked up pictures of people with natural freckles and copied the pattern to replicate the unique look.
❖ If you chose to use the brush method the pattern is up to random placement and may leave smaller lighter dots. So, you would get a more muted look. The tip of the brush could be used to create a few bigger dots to make the look more prominent.
With these two things decided on, the last but most important factor is TIME!
❖ The henna freckles in the photos are applied with a Mehndi Madness cone and the pattern is created by replicating a natural pattern of freckles. The henna was left on for 4-6 hours and did not interact with water until the next day. You can see the henna isn’t too dark but mimics the same coloring as normal freckles thus creating the adorable summer look!
❖ The freckles lasted for about 7 days, this of course depends on the henna and your skincare routine. The skin on the face is thinner so henna doesn’t get as dark or last as long as it would on other areas. Keep in mind that exfoliating will also lessen the time that it lasts.
One last tip! Makeup can be used to play up or down play the intensity of the freckles.
