BIBLE STORIES IN HENNA
By: Krysteen Lomonaco ~ 10/12/2012

Recently I had a wonderful opportunity to do henna on a group of Christian women who were sharing the evening with a returned missionary.  The missionary was in a country where henna was a part of the culture.  She would sit with the women and tell stories of Christ and the Bible. The indigenes people loved the stories and the henna time they shared together.

Although these stories come from the Bible, the designs come from the true nature of henna.  Henna has always been a time for women to get together and share.  Henna has also been a medium for intention, creation and story telling.

They took traditional designs and assigned meaning to them so they told  well known Bible stories like Noah, Joseph's Dream, and The Birth of Jesus.  The book includes 13 designs centered around how to live your life in the presence of peace even though there may be obstacles.  They even went so far as creating an advanced and easy version for each design and labeled the different parts of the henna design to match the story highlights.

I enjoyed the cross cultural aspects of this event.  Here are some of the stories, designs and meanings.  I hope you'll enjoy them too.
