Get Your Hands On Henna!
By: Krysteen Lomonaco ~ 10/2/2014

Ever wanted to do your own mehndi for either personal enjoyment or as a cool summer gig? Good news for you, Mehndi Madness offers classes! Our schedule this year can be seen on our services page. Which class best suits your needs? Let us help you with that.

Hands on Henna Class: This class is a 2 hour workshop that includes all of your introductory materials, the price is $35 per person. This class holds 10 students who are interested in learning how to do mehndi at a beginner/intermediate level by using a home kit. This class is designed as a “crash course” where students will learn how to do the basic application process, how to fill a cone, use a transfer, create lines and filled designs, and aftercare.

We are also available to book private workshops for you and 6 or more people. A travel fee of $40 may apply depending on your location

Professional Artist Class: This class is a 2 day event that holds up to 4 students but is often taught one-on-one.  It includes the professional artist kit. This class is $480 per person and is perfect for students who are interested in learning how to do mehndi at an intermediate to advanced level. The class is designed for people interested in charging for their work and becoming a paid professional artist. Students will learn techniques on drawing designs, using the applicator to your advantage, training your eye to break down more complicated designs in order to get them perfect the first try.  Krysteen has been teaching this popular Mehndi Madness class for over 17 years.  Students have come from as far as N.Y. and Mexico City.

In addition to these techniques, students will learn more in depth about:

  • The history of mehndi
  • How to check quality of henna
  • Basic brewing instructions
  • Additions to brewing
  • How to mix henna
  • Learning a no-brew recipe
  • Lemon/sugar application
  • Aftercare
  • Different applicators
  • Design books and transfers
  • Practice Techniques
  • Jagua overview
  • Supplies needed for your business

The Professional Artist class focuses on the students one-on-one, a great addition to this course is to purchase the Pro-Class Video in either VHS (yes, we still have a few at a really good price!) or digital download. This video can be purchased stand alone or along with the professional artist kit for those of you who aren't able to attend the class. Contact: Krysteen@mehndimadness.com for more details.
